FAQs

What does the range generally include?

Our fabric range includes a wide selection of high-quality fabrics by the metre. From cotton fabrics, cotton blends, linen, lining fabrics, silk, stretch fabrics, viscose, wool and wool blends, you can find everything with us. Special highlights in our range also include our innovative high-tech fabrics, as well as German Tweed and our Organicz fabrics according to GOTS standard.

You can also buy the suitable accessories for your next sewing project, such as threads, zippers or fusible interlining, online from us.

Where do the materials for the fabrics come from?

Our raw materials are sourced very carefully and under the highest quality standards. They come almost exclusively from Europe.

Where are Zuleeg fabrics designed and produced?

All fabrics are 100% designed and manufactured at our company site in Helmbrechts/Ort. Our fabrics are also finished and inspected in Germany, within a 10km radius of our company site.

What makes your fabrics sustainable?

We weave in Germany, work with GOTS-certified Organicz® qualities and exclusively mulesing-free wool. You can find more details in our Sustainability Report.

Are the fabrics mulesing-free?

As a company producing exclusively in Germany, Wilhelm Zuleeg GmbH is committed to its responsibility for environmentally conscious and social business practices throughout its supply chain. Animal welfare is very important to us, and we are expressly against any form of animal mistreatment or disregard for animal welfare. In particular, we consider mulesing without anaesthesia to be animal cruelty and are explicitly against it, while acknowledging that without mulesing, flystrike infestation would lead to a sheep's agonizing death. Alternatives already exist – the "Pain Relief procedure," where the intervention is performed under anaesthesia by a certified expert. In the long term, however, the goal must be to completely abandon mulesing. Therefore, we explicitly call on the responsible authorities in Australia to develop suitable alternatives as quickly as possible. We offer our customers who purchase wool fabrics from us alternative options. However, the decision rests with the respective brands, as mulesing-free wool is currently still associated with higher costs.

How heavy are the fabrics?

The weight specifications vary depending on the quality of the items. Our wide-ranging assortment includes everything from lighter blouse and shirt fabrics weighing approximately 250 g/linear metre, to heavier jacket and coat fabrics like our German Tweed at approximately 400 g/linear metre.

What fabric widths are offered?

Our fabrics sold by the metre usually have a width that varies between 145-150cm. The exact fabric widths are indicated for each item, both with and without selvage.

How do I identify the right and wrong side of the fabric?

When carefully packaging your Zuleeg quality fabrics, the right side of the fabric is folded inwards to protect the surface during transport. In addition, a note identifying the right side of the fabric is attached to each order.

What should I consider when caring for the fabrics?

To optimally care for your Zuleeg fabric, always observe the individual care and washing instructions for your item on the care labels. This way, the quality, color, and shape of the fabric by the metre can be maintained and bring you joy for a long time.

Information on the general care of wool fabrics, as well as a detailed explanation of the care symbols, can always be found in our blog post.

Do the fabrics need to be pre-washed before further processing?

Wool fabrics should generally not be washed; it is sufficient to steam them thoroughly before processing. Due to the self-cleaning properties of wool, it is enough to air out the sewn item outdoors. Whether your specific wool fabric can also be hand-washed or machine-washed on a gentle wool cycle can always be found on the care labels of your fabric by the metre.

Where can I find the opening hours of the factory outlet and current dates?

Our factory outlet is always open Wednesday-Friday from 10:00 AM - 3:00 PM.

Further current dates, also for our sewing camps, can always be found under the following link: News and Dates – Wilhelm Zuleeg GmbH

Do you advise me on fabric selection?

Gladly. Our team in Helmbrechts knows every woven batch and can help with questions about fabric consumption, processing, and the combination of outer and lining fabrics — by phone at 09252 7020 or by email at info@zuleeg.de.

Can I order fabric samples?

Yes — through our fabric sample order, we will send you sample pieces of your desired qualities. This way, you can calmly check the color, feel, and weight before ordering fabric by the metre. You are welcome to submit your sample requests to us Monday to Friday (8:00 AM to 4:00 PM) by phone at +49 9252 7020 or via email at info@zuleeg.de.

Shipments of fabric samples within the EU are free, while shipping costs apply for deliveries to non-EU countries.

Are there colour deviations from the images on the website to the real fabric?

The colour representation of our fabrics on the screen may differ from the actual fabric colour. Due to individual screen or display settings on your device, the colour reproduction may vary.

To assess the colour as accurately as possible, we always recommend ordering a fabric sample.

Will sold-out goods be re-produced?

In our online shop, you will find exclusive quality fabrics that are produced in limited quantities only and therefore not re-produced. However, some items are also produced for wholesalers and may reappear in the fabric shop through reorders.

Is there a minimum order quantity?

The minimum order quantity for our fabrics by the metre is 0.5m.

How can I, as a retailer/business customer, purchase Zuleeg fabrics?

Please send us an email to info@zuleeg.de. We will get back to you as soon as possible with our great business customer and retailer offer. You can also contact us by phone from Monday to Friday (8:00 AM to 4:00 PM) at +49 9252 7020. We look forward to your inquiry!

What payment options are available?

Credit card, PayPal, and Klarna are available as payment options for your fabric order.

How is the fabric cut by the metre?

We cut each order in one continuous piece from the roll — so for 3 metres, you'll receive a continuous piece at full fabric width. Cuts are available from 0.5 metres in half-metre increments.

How are your fabrics packaged?

This always depends on the quantity ordered. Small quantities (depending on the fabric quality) are lovingly wrapped in tissue paper and packed in a cardboard box, without plastic, so they arrive at your home in the best condition. Larger quantities are either rolled or doubled on cardboard, wrapped in film, and shipped.

How can I check my order status?

We will inform you by email about every step – from the packaging of your ordered goods to the shipping preparation and the upcoming delivery. If you want to check your order, simply log in to your customer account. Click on the shopping cart and follow the instructions there.

How long do shipping and delivery take?

Stock items leave our warehouse within 1–2 business days; within Germany, you usually receive them after 2–3 days. For orders over €75, we offer free shipping; collection in Helmbrechts is also possible after ordering.

How do returns and cancellations work?

You have 14 days to return unused goods.

More detailed information on the return process can be found in our cancellation policy. For cut fabric by the metre, please contact us beforehand – we will find a solution together.
